Danger n' Opportunity

You can't glance at ANY type of financial coverage these days without seeing the words: “Financial Meltdown”, “bailout”, “economy in danger”. But mostly you'll see:
Crisis! Crisis! Crisis!

A Crisis is the point of time when it is to be decided whether any affair or course of action must go on, or be modified or terminate; the decisive moment; the turning point. And the current global financial crisis is definitely a turning point, in fact it has spun the world around and it will go down in history… just like past, presents and future crisis’s. So, if crisis calls out 2 words, danger and opportunity, we thought it will be interesting to see who emphasizes what, when discussing a crisis. Who sees this more as an opportunity and who sees it as a horrific danger & how they see the balance between the two: danger and opportunity.

Here are some quotes from world leaders addressing this balance:

John F Kennedy: " When written in Chinese, the word "crisis" is composed of two characters. One represents danger and the other represents opportunity.”

Bill Gates: "I'm quite worried about the fiscal imbalances that we've got and what that might mean in terms of financial crisis ahead”

Donald Trump says:" it's both a very tough time and a great opportunity. There are great opportunities right now for people when you say average family. It's an unbelievable time to buy a house and especially if a bank happens to own it because they've put the money in so it's not a question of getting financing. The money is already there. Go out and make a deal.”

Stuart Wilde: “In a time of crisis we all have the potential to morph up to a new level and do things we never thought possible.”

Al Gore: “We sometimes emphasize the danger in a crisis without focusing on the opportunities that are there. We should feel a great sense of urgency because it is the most dangerous crisis we have ever faced, by far. But it also provides us with opportunities to do a lot of things we ought to be doing for other reasons anyway. And to solve this crisis we can develop a shared sense of moral purpose. (talking about the environmental crisis)”
